Ice Spice Reveals Debut Album ‘Y2K’ Drops This Year and ‘Crazy’ Collab

The rapper, who was born Jan. 1, 2000, named her upcoming record in honor of her birthday

Less than a week after releasing her first track of the year, the aptly named “Think U the Sh*t (Fart),” Ice Spice announced that her upcoming debut album will be titled Y2K and dropping this year.

During a Today interview with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on Tuesday, the Bronx-born rapper revealed that her new record is named after her birthday, Jan. 1, 2020. Ice Spice previously hinted at the title of her new project in November with an Instagram photo of a back tattoo alongside the cryptic message “Y2K! ?/?/24.”

“It’s almost finished. I’m really excited,” Ice Spice beamed during Tuesday’s segment. “I have a crazy collaboration that just got locked in two days ago,” she teased when asked about the new music, but refrained from divulging on exactly who that feature might be.

Earlier this month, Rolling Stone listed Ice Spice’s forthcoming debut album as one of the top 10 rap albums to look forward to in 2024.

Last year, Ice Spice rolled out “Pretty Girl” with Rema following her EP Like..? The 15-minute surprise EP featured tracks like “Deli,” “In Ha Mood,” and “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj. The announcement of her upcoming album arrives two weeks after Duval “D.Chamberz” Chamberlain and Kenley “Kass the Producer” Carmenate accused Ice Spice of copyright infringement over “In Ha Mood.” Carmenate alleged the drill superstar and her producer Riot “copied” the title, hook, chorus, phrasing, and tempo of “In That Mood” without permission or proper credit. Ice Spice has yet to respond to the suit.
