‘The Bear’ Season 3 Is Coming — Here’s What We Know

When Season 2 of The Bear ended, chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto had accidentally locked himself in the walk-in refrigerator at his new restaurant — aptly named The Bear — as they welcomed their first guests for friends-and-family night. But we never saw how he got out. Luckily, earlier this week, FX Network dropped a new trailer for the third season of the Emmy-collecting TV series, and it looks like Carmy has finally warmed back up to room temperature. And we may finally see how. 

The simple 43-second trailer shows Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, flipping on the lights in the restaurant’s kitchen and pausing — possibly reflecting — as he drops his knife bag on a clean white counter. The point-of-view then changes, zooming out to show the exterior of The Bear, and its tiny place in the Chicago cityscape. 

There’s obviously much more to that. But for now, while we wait, here’s what we know about The Bear Season 3.

When will Season 3 of ‘The Bear’ be released? 

All 10 episodes of The Bear’s third season  — which has become one of FX’s most-watched series — will drop on Thursday, June 27. (And that sound was all of us checking our calendars to see if we could call in “sick” that day.) 

According to Deadline, Season 3 and Season 4 of The Bear were reportedly filmed back-to-back, even though Season 4 hasn’t been publicly announced or confirmed by anyone at the network. 

Who stars in ‘The Bear’ Season 3? 

The teaser trailer didn’t reveal…well, anything, really, other than letting us know that Jeremy Allen White will be back as Carmy. The IMDB listing for the first episode of the upcoming season only names White, along with Ayo Edibiri, who won an Emmy for playing sous-chef Sydney Adamu; Ebon Moss-Bachrach, another Emmy winner, who portrays Richard “Richie” Jerimovich; and Liza Colón-Zayas, who will reprise her role as line cook Tina Marrero. 

It seems like we’ll have to wait until late June to confirm the rest of the cast, including whether the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis may return as Carmy’s mother. (Personally, I want another episode featuring Olivia Colman and her elite mushroom-peeling skills.) 

What will Season 3 be about?

Again, FX isn’t giving any details away yet, but we’re assuming we’ll see what happens when The Bear is finally open to the public — and we’ll find out whether (and how) Carmy plans to pay back “Uncle Jimmy” Kalinowski the $800,000 he’s put into the Berzatto brothers’ restaurants. 

In an interview with Variety, Jeremy Allen White suggested that Season 3 would include more fast-paced kitchen scenes than we saw in the last series. “[Before filming] I’m going to spend a fair amount of time getting together with some chefs. There’ll be a menu set, I believe, that’s going to be for the restaurant in the third season. And I know that I’m going to start putting together that menu with different chefs and cooking and just trying to get prepared to do more of that stuff on camera,” he told the outlet last December. 

“[F]or the second season, so much of it was about putting the restaurant together, so there wasn’t that much cooking. But now, in the third season, I think we’re going to go back to that functioning kitchen atmosphere that we had in the first.”
